The hotel occupies the former headquarters of the Port of London Authority — a monumental Portland stone Beaux-Arts building by Sir Edwin Cooper, completed in 1922 and Grade II* listed — with its restored rotunda as the centrepiece. What sets it apart practically is the wellness offering: an 18,000 sq ft spa with eight treatment rooms, a Moroccan hammam with heated marble plinth, and a 14-metre indoor lap pool, all of which are rare in this part of London. Tower Bridge and the Tower of London are both a short walk downhill.
